Our Counseling Program provides accessible, trauma-informed mental health support to residents across Community Builders supportive housing sites.
Funded by Hockey Helps the Homeless, the program brings professional counseling directly into housing sites, helping residents access support in a familiar and trusted environment. Through one-on-one sessions and group workshops, participants are able to process trauma, build coping skills and navigate challenges related to relationships, conflict, boundaries and life transitions.
For many residents, this is their first experience with counseling. By offering support on-site, the program reduces barriers and stigma that often prevent people from accessing mental health services.
Counselors meet people where they are at, offering flexible, resident-led support grounded in dignity, respect and trust. In addition to supporting individual residents, the program also strengthens our housing communities by providing critical incident support and skills-based training for site staff.
At its core, the program creates space for residents to be seen, heard and supported as they work toward greater stability, healing and well-being.
