Indigenous Wellness

Our Indigenous Wellness program provides culturally relevant, Indigenous-led support to Indigenous-identifying residents across our housing sites. As a non-Indigenous organization, we recognize the importance of centering Indigenous leadership—this program is led by our Indigenous Wellness Lead and operates in close partnership with local First Nations and urban Indigenous organizations.

The program offers both one-on-one case work and group activities, including ceremonies, workshops and land-based healing. Residents participate in smudging, home blessings, talking circles and hands-on workshops such as teepee raising, wild harvesting, and maker's circles. Monthly events like Don’t Panic, There’s Bannock celebrate traditional foods and community connection, while outings like sweat lodges and Healing on the Water offer powerful opportunities for reflection, healing and reconnection to the land.

At its heart, the program is about creating not just a physical home, but a cultural and spiritual home or homecoming for those who may have been disconnected from their roots and identity.

"I have been living here since 2016. The Metson has provided me with a safe and secure place to live. I have privacy and the freedom to come and go as I please. I also enjoy the meals that are provided when possible. The staff are there if you need any help."
