On September 1, Community Builders officially assumed operations of Luugat, a 110-unit supportive housing site on Granville Street in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

Like many long-standing buildings in the city’s entertainment district, Luugat has seen its share of challenges. At the same time, it is home to a vibrant community of residents and staff who care deeply about making the building a safer and healthier place to live.

We’re here to:

- Listen to residents and center their voices in decision-making

- Implement clear and consistent rules, systems and expectations

- Build trust with neighbours and community stakeholders through open communication

- Support staff to do the day-to-day work of creating stable housing

We know that change takes time. But we also know that supportive housing works—when residents feel heard, staff are equipped to succeed and communities are engaged. Our approach will be the same as it has always been: one day at a time, one resident at a time, one neighbour at a time.
